Parts of a Fraction

• Numerator (top): How many parts we have
• Denominator (bottom): How many equal parts in the whole

Reading Fractions

3/4 = "three quarters" or "three fourths"

2/5 = "two fifths"

7/10 = "seven tenths"

Visual Example

If a pizza is cut into 8 equal slices and you eat 3:

You ate 3/8 (three eighths) of the pizza
