4Nn17: Order and compare two or more fractions with the same denominator

Same Denominator = Easy Comparison

When denominators are the same, just compare the numerators:

3/8 < 5/8 (because 3 < 5)

7/10 > 4/10 (because 7 > 4)

Ordering Fractions

Put in order from smallest to largest: 2/5, 4/5, 1/5, 3/5

Answer: 1/5, 2/5, 3/5, 4/5

Remember

The bigger the numerator, the bigger the fraction (when denominators match)
