🎯 What You'll Learn
You will learn to calculate change when buying things with round Naira amounts.
🏪 Market Story
Funke buys a sachet of pure water for ₦20. She pays with a ₦50 note. The trader needs to give her change. How much change? ₦50 − ₦20 = ₦30. The trader gives Funke ₦30 back.
📝 Let's Learn
Making change means finding how much money you get back. You subtract the price from what you paid.
Change = Amount paid − Price
Example 1: You pay ₦50 for a ₦30 item. Change: ₦50 − ₦30 = ₦20.
Example 2: You pay ₦100 for a ₦40 item. Change: ₦100 − ₦40 = ₦60.
Example 3: You pay ₦50 for a ₦50 item. Change: ₦50 − ₦50 = ₦0. Exact change — no money back!
Tip for round numbers: Subtracting tens is easy — just subtract the tens digits. ₦80 − ₦30: 8 tens − 3 tens = 5 tens = ₦50.
