🎯 What You'll Learn

You will learn to remove a sound from a word and hear what new word is left.

🌟 Let's Start

Here is a word magic trick! Say sand. Now take away the /s/ sound. What is left? and! You just made a new word by removing a sound. This is called sound deletion.

📚 New Concept

Sound deletion means taking away one sound from a word to make a new word.

Remove the first sound:

  • bus without /b/ = us
  • meat without /m/ = eat
  • sit without /s/ = it
  • hat without /h/ = at
  • farm without /f/ = arm

Remove the last sound:

  • cart without /t/ = car
  • seat without /t/ = sea
  • hand without /d/ = han

This is like a word puzzle. You are training your brain to hear every sound in a word!
