Funke wants to buy a school bag that costs ₦600. She saves ₦50 every week. How many weeks will it take her to save enough?
📝 Let's Learn
Funke saves ₦50 per week. She needs ₦600.
Method: ₦600 ÷ ₦50 = 12 weeks. She needs to save for 12 weeks.
Check: 12 × ₦50 = ₦600. ✓
Example 1: Tunde saves ₦30 per week. After 8 weeks, how much has he saved? 8 × ₦30 = ₦240. He then buys a book for ₦85. Left: ₦240 − ₦85 = ₦155.
Example 2: Amina has ₦100 saved. She earns ₦25 each day for 4 days. Total: ₦100 + (4 × ₦25) = ₦100 + ₦100 = ₦200.
Example 3: Chidi needs ₦500. He already has ₦180 and earns ₦40 per week. How many more weeks? He needs ₦500 − ₦180 = ₦320 more. ₦320 ÷ ₦40 = 8 more weeks.

- 10 × ₦20 = ₦200.
- Needs: ₦300 − ₦120 = ₦180 more. ₦180 ÷ ₦60 = 3 more weeks.
- Saved: 6 × ₦45 = ₦270. After spending: ₦270 − ₦150 = ₦120 left.
💡 Remember
Saving is addition over time (multiply your weekly savings by weeks). To find how long to save, divide the goal by your weekly amount. Always subtract spending to see what's left!
