Story: The School Concert
The children at Green Hills School were excited. Their school was having a concert at the end of the term.
"I will sing a song!" said Bola.
"I will play the drum," said Tunde.
"I want to tell a story on stage," said Amina quietly.
Mrs. Okafor, the teacher, helped them practise every day after school. First, Bola sang her song again and again until it sounded beautiful. Next, Tunde practised his drum beats until they were perfect. Then, Amina wrote a short story about a clever tortoise and practised reading it with a loud, clear voice.
On the day of the concert, the hall was full of parents and families. Bola felt nervous, but when she started singing, her voice was strong and sweet. Everyone clapped. Tunde played his drum and the whole audience tapped their feet. Then Amina walked to the front. Her hands were shaking, but she began to read her story. The audience laughed at the funny parts and clapped loudly at the end.
"You were all wonderful!" said Mrs. Okafor. "I am so proud of you."
On the way home, Amina's mother said, "I did not know you could read so well, Amina!" Amina smiled. "I have been practising," she said. "Reading is my superpower."
