- fish — the beginning sound is /f/

- rice — the beginning sound is /r/
Say each word slowly. Stretch out the first sound: mmmmango, sssssun, fffffish. Can you hear it? That stretched-out part is the beginning sound!
Think about the foods you eat at home. Garri starts with /g/. Plantain starts with /p/. Yam starts with /y/.
