Common Prefixes

  • un- = not (unhappy, unfair, unclear)
  • re- = again (rewrite, redo, replay)
  • dis- = not/opposite (disagree, disappear)
  • pre- = before (preview, preheat)

Common Suffixes

  • -ful = full of (helpful, beautiful, careful)
  • -less = without (helpless, careless)
  • -ly = in a way (quickly, slowly, happily)
  • -er/-or = person who (teacher, actor)
